Having two issues with Backup Exec 12.5, backing up Exchange 2007 (SBS) and LiveUpdate

Hi. I am trying to solve the following error: When I attempt to backup my Exchange server (SBS 2007, same server as the backup server), I get the message: Backup- \\BRADFORD-SBS\Microsoft Information Store\First Storage Group
V-79-57344-766 - Cannot log on to MAPI with the specified credentials. Review the resource credenti...
The credentials are valid and I have followed the steps I found in 355356 and 345679. I cannot get this to backup. These articles also suggest a couple of items that require updating to the latest service pack. When I do that, I cannot install SP4 for 12.5. I get the following error

LU1812: A program that was part of this update failed when it ran. This update was not applied. Click here for more information on this error.

This refers to an XML error, but the XML parser update will not install (looks like perhaps it is the wrong version for SBS 2007 64bit).

If anyone can help with any of this I would appreciate it.
My current version is 12.5 rev 2213

Hope this helps.

Hello,

Create a new account in AD named : symantec with following settings:
1  : Member of the Domain Admin group and Local Admin Group if Exchange is a member server
2  : Create a Mailbox for Symantec, send a test email and oprn it in OWA to activate the Mailbox.
3  : Make sure that the Mailbox is not hidden from the Global Address List.
4  : Add the account "symantec" as Exchange Server Administrator in Exchange Management Console.

Open Backup Exec, go to TOOLS--Logon Accounts and Change the Logon Account to "symantec", make sure that "system Logon Account" and "Default Logon Account" is symantec.

Now Backup OR Restore any individual item from exchange backups.

Hope this helps...

Ok, I setup this account. I am still getting the error, but it looks like the data store is backing up. Perhaps there is an issue with an individual item or mailbox?

See below comment. Some of the tasks in this article do not apply to BE 12.5, but to 11d, so I did not perform those steps.

Could you please upload the job logs?

Will do. See attached. Further investigation confirms that data is on the tape, but it is not restorable.

As per the logs we are backing up Exchange IS only on TAPE,

http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/306830.htm

1  : As per the above document we will select a single file from the C-Drive and select the IS after the file in resource order.
2  : Only for the test purpose we will perform this backup on disk

Exchange 2007 is running on a Windows 2008 Server, in the backup selection list Information Store is not the first resource to be backed up for the Exchange Server and job is targeted to tape device..This is a known issue

Let us chec how it goes...in the mean time i will research more on this....

I backed up one file, then backed up the Public Folder store to disk. This did work, so it looks like this is indeed the issue. Is there a patch or workaround for this?

Hello,

There has been always an issue with exchange GRT on Tapes...Symantec recomends to backup to disk and then duplicate the disk backup to tape....

Hope this helps...
