Hi all

Bit confused with my Back Up Exec Configuration it was sort of working sorry to be vague, we had alot of changes with server to do with new installation of Citrix and demoting the Active directory (dont ask)

anyway the selection list has no option of backing up mailboxes, so there is some problem althought the license info say all installed and licensed.

Scenario

1.2003 server (main server with BUexec 10.1)
2.exchange server (seperate server)
3.sql server (seperate server)

Basically whats the general install format for multiple servers, i would imagine something like the following

Backup exec loaded on main server , exchange agent loaded on exchange server, and sql agent on last server.

or do they all go on main server, and the remaing servers have remote agents for windows servers?

Thanks

This is often a cause of confusion.

In fact, there is NO Exchange agent and NO SQL agent - it is merely functionality in the BE media server that is "turned on" when you install the serial no.  It works by using the Windows Server remote agent - that's why a remote agent is included in the license for SQL and in the license for Exchange.

So, you add the serial no's. to the BE server and push the normal windows server remote agent to the remote servers.
