How many servers can I back up?

We are currently evaluating Symantec Backup Exec 11D.  In our environment we have approximately 100 Windows servers.

A competitor told me yesterday that Backup Exec should really only be used if you have 50 servers or less.  Any more, and you really need to buy the more expensive Netbackup product.

Is he correct, or is he blowing smoke in order to convince me to buy his product instead?

I am backing up about 120+ servers (4 -5 TB/night) using 4 Dell Powervault 136T tape libraries using Backup Exec 11d 7170.  Seems to be working out okay.

I backup over 100 servers, but I have two backup servers using a partitioned tape library.

NetBackup is quite a bit more expensive. It also is an "Enterprise" solution for much larger sites where you may need a couple or more libraries. If you are limited to window servers and only have a hundred or so then you should be fine.
