Hello folks, is there any way in Backup Exec 2012/2014 to move a backup from one tape to another one? What about the indexes? Thank you in advance.

You will need a libary with two tape drives (or 2 stand alone drives) and then you run a duplicate job against the backup set which creates a new catalog (index) for the second tape as it duplicates

Ok, and if I want to delete the first backup set there is no problem about future recoveries using the duplicate backup, right?

There should be no problem with the duplicate.

One key point though, you cannot just delete one backup set from a tape, you have to delete the whole of the content of the tape (which might be more then one set depending on the backup history)

Ok, and what about a backup set from disk as source? I suppose it's possible.

Yes. That is possible.

It is recommended not to delete the backup sets directly from the disc storage. If you do not want a particular backup set, you may right click and EXPIRE the same from Backup Exec (2014) and let the DLM delete it from the storage.
