IDR grayed out...

I will be doing a complete system restore soon and I noticed that the IDR wizard is grayed out and not accessible. How do I activate this function? I am using Version 9.00 Rev 4367.

Thank you...

Have you purchased and installed the IDR Serial?

If not you can always do it the old fashioned way Smiley Wink

I have a Software License Key for BEWS 9.9 Disaster Recovery. Is this the correct item? Also, when I view the properties of the license information it identifies the IDR option as licensed and installed.

Yes, that's what I was talking about.

Well, since I don't use IDR myself, I can't help any farther.

I fixed the problem... kind of. I had to do a registry tweak to get the IDR wizard to show under tools, wizards. However, after changing the Disaster Recovery value the backup jobs now stay in the pre processing stage forever. I switch the value back to zero and the IDR wizrad disapears but my backups run. Any ideas?

Sorry - I've never seen the need for IDR, and have seen so many problems reported on the Forums, that I was never even tempted to try it "just to see"

Do you have any suggestions on what product would create an exact duplicate of my OS and data so that I can easily restore once I swap out everything?

You can do it with BackupExec (I've done it several times).  I've just never been a fan of IDR, since it does exactly what you would do, takes just as long, and puts a wizard between you and what is actually happening

Are you referring to the Manual Disaster Recovery of Windows Computers section? The section that describes procedures for Local Windows 2000/XP computers will identify the steps needed to get me up and running after I install new hard drives?

Thank you...

That's it.

don't know if they emphasis it or not (it's been awhile since I looked at the v9.0/v9.1 manual)

If you have any database servers running on this machine, shut the server services down and see http://support.veritas.com/docs/259152  to disable Active File Exclusion, then take a complete flat file backup, and you will not have to restore database files after restoring the OS
