IDR and BMR is option products of NetBackup.
Most remarkable difference between NetBackup and Livestate Recovery(now, Backup Exec System Recovery) is their architecture.
NetBackup is file-based backup softoware, and its main target are data files.
You can backs up system disks with NetBackup, but many steps are needed to restore.
It becomes a bit easier with IDR or BMR, but Livestate Recovery is more suitable to system protection.
IDR is purchased by NetBackup 5.x. IDR is replaced by BMR on NetBackup 6.
Livestate Recovery offers disk-based system protection. Livestate Recovery backs up whole disk or volume images - not individual files. So it is unlikely to use Livestate Recovery with data volumes.Message was edited by:
