Incremental Backup Slow.

I am using Windows Server 2003, VERITAS 10.0 Rev 5484 attached to my storage server. I am using LTO2 Tape for this backup.

I am running full weekly backup at Saturday & Full Mail backup at Sunday.

From Monday - Friday, i am running the daily incremental backup.

The problem is Monday incremental backup take about 5 hours (50 GB)
Tuesday - Friday 10 hours (50GB)

I am not running anything in the network during that time. Antivirus not running when the backup is on.

This happens since I got a Quantum Superloader 3, got 16 slot for LTO3/LTO2 tape. Before that, i am using HP Storagework 8 LTO2 Tape, incremental backup time is same everyday around 5 hours.

Any idea what problem it is??

Hi,

Are you backing up any databases like exchange or sql?

Does the incremental backup on backup to disk run faster?

You may also upgrade to version 10d. Refer:
