Installation of BE 2010 agent

Hi,

Since current servers will be migrated from Win 2003 to Win 2008 / Win 2008 R2.

1) Is BE 2010 agent support Win 2008 (on VM) and Win 2008 R2 (on physical machine) ?

2) Can I copy BE agent source directly from BE backup server to traget machine for instllation ?

3) Is path "C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\Agents\RAWS32" and "C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\Agents\RAWS64" ?

4) Just power off old mahince, then change hostname / IP same as old machine then install agent << Is this procedure work ?

Yes.

Yes it will work

Do not copy the RAWS installer files to the existing path C:\Program\Symantec\Backup Exec\RAWS

Instead copy them to a temp location (maybe such as the Desktop) and then run the installer from there.

You don't have to manually install the remote agents. You can simply push the remote agents to the new servers and they can be some other names. In fact the new servers should have their own names rather than reusing the old names. This would avoid confusion

Since same hostname will be used. Then is it ok ?

Install locally is faster than push install and no need to do anything on BE server.

Yes to to your first question. Not true. After a local install, you still need to establish trust using the BE console

From the Backup & Restore tab, right-click the server and choose Establish Trust. If the server does not appear, add it first.
