Backup Exec 2010 for Windows..  when it is at the end of the install, it gives me this error:

Error 1402.could not open key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Symantec\BAckup Exec For Windows\Backup Exec\Engine\Utility Partition.  Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.

It then backs out of the install removing everything.   I am logged in as domain adminsitrator.  This is a Windows 2008 Ent. SP2 64-bit OS.

Thanks

Cathy

Thanks much.  I will give this a shot.  We have though tried to install several times...  I will let you know if this resolved it.

Still having a lot of issues...   Might have to contact support.  Will get in touch with them on Wednesday as that is when we do our Disaster Recovery at a place in Atlanta GA.  We are bringing the software on a CD to install.

Thanks

Try logging on as local administrator.  Copy the MSXML and the RAWS64 folders from the media server in "c:\program files\symantec\backup exec\agents\" locally to the server you want the agent on.

Open up the RAWS64 folder and run setupaax64.cmd, if this fails try just the setup.exe file.

Important, make sure you are logged on with the local admin account for that server.  I've had it before where the domain account has not had permission to install the agent usually because something on that server has revoked the rights.
