I am upgrading my server from server 2003 (32 bit) to Server 2008(64 bit).
My current server 2003 is installed with BE 12.5. On the new server 2008, I am intending to use BE 2012.
Can I use the old serial key which is currently used?
Any help is appreciated

No. BE 2012 uses .slf files for its licences. You would need to get these new licences by going to the licencing website or contacting Symantec Licencing. You are entitled to a free upgrade if you have a current maintenance contract.
Since BE 2012 is quite different from earlier releases of BE, I would suggest that you review my article below before proceeding.

Hi
BE 2012 uses SLF keys so you would need to contact licensing to upgrade your license keys for the backup exec and your other agent please contact them from the below link

Thanks

You did not say whether you are going to use Server 2008 or Server 2008 R2. If it is the latter, then you cannot load BE 12.5 on it. It is not supported. You can backup Server 2008 R2 with BE 12.5 with the right fixes, but you cannot use Server 2008 R2 as a media server for BE 12.5. See the SCL below
You can upgrade to BE 2010, but this would also involve new licences.
