Intermittent Backup Failure

We are experiencing problems with the following error - v-79-57344-34028, where are daily backup routine intermittently fails and the tape cleaning light comes on.

On following the above error code we have purchased a new SCSI card, SCSI cable and even replaced the tape drive.

We are also using a different tape each day as part of our backup cycle so we have also eliminated a media problem.

We have also seen an entry in the system event log for ID 7 if this helps.

Hello,

Since when does the problem occur? What type of tape drive are you using? Who is the manufacturer? Have you installed Veritas device drivers for it?

Refer to the steps in the technotes below that might help resolve the problem:

"Data error (cyclic redundancy check)" is reported in the Backup Exec job log during a failed backup/verify operation

Event ID 7 is generated in the System Event log when performing a media operation on a tape device.

Problem has occured since first installation

It's an external Quantum VS80 drive

I have loaded the latest drivers

I'll try the attached and let you know
