Job Engine - Not enough storage is available

Hi

An inventory job did hang. After that Backup Exec could not execute any backup jobs. I tried to restart the Backup Exec service, the service started again but the job engine service did not.

The error message was: “Could not start the Backup Exec Job Engine service on local computer. Error 0x8007000e. Not enough storage is available to complete this operation.”

If I try to start Backup Exec I get the error message: “Ran out of memory”

No changes has been made to the configuration. The computer is an Windows SBS 2003 Server and the the drive is an Tandberg SLR7 Autoloader. Backup Exec is version 9.1

There is no lack of disk space. What could be wrong?

Regards Henrik

Hello,

Check if the Backup Exec service account (BESA) has domain admin rights.

Also refer to the following article.

(title) Backups on Microsoft Windows 2003 can cause poor and gradually declining system performance and Out of Memory Errors.

Please contact MS to obtain that hotfix.

Thanks,
