Job Engine stops responding soon after Test Run kicks off

Dell Powervault DLT 40/80 tape drive on Windows 2000 SBS SP4 and BE 9.1 rev. 4691 SP2

Nightly incremental backup has failed all week. Same error of event id 7031 job engine not responding. Installed MDAC 2.8 and ran BEUtility.exe to repair database with no improvement.

Noticed job engine always stopped responding after the following:
1. Restarted services
2. Ran Test Run of Monday backup
3. Test Run hangs at Backup scan, no byte increase, it stays at "0".
4. Manually cancelled Test Run and it showed Test Run successful
5. Job Engine stopped.

Any fix to this?

Hello,

Please apply the SP2 to your installation. You may download the same from the following link.
VERITAS Backup Exec (tm) 9.1 for Windows Servers revision 4691 - Service Pack 2
http://support.veritas.com/docs/275247

However if the problem persists, you may try repairing the installation and verify the result. Refer the following technote.
Title:
Repairing Backup Exec 9.x and 10.x for Windows Servers
http://support.veritas.com/docs/253199

You may also refer to the following technote to troubleshoot the issue.

Thank you for the suggestions.

Forgot to mention I have already implemented #1 and #3 of your suggestions after the problem occurred. No improvement though. I'm going to try suggestion #2 and let you know what the result is.Message was edited by:
