Job fails with no specific errors

I am running BU 9.1 (build 4691) on a Windows Small Business Server 2003 machine. My nightly backups are failing on almost a regular basis with the following error.

Job ended: Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at 11:10:03 PM

Final error: 0x0 -
Final error category: Other Errors

The are no errors listed and I can not find anything in the job log to give me a clue as to what is causing this. At what point, rebooting the server would fix the problem for a day or two, but now that doesn't even work. I installed the latest service pack and tape drivers for Backup Exec. I have recreated the job. I have uninstalled and re-installed the tape drive, using the Veritas drivers. I have ran diagnostics on the tape drive and have found nothing unusual. I have performed a long erase on the media. All WIndows updates have been applied to this machine.

I can not find anything on how to fix this error within this site or by a Google Search.

If anyone has any ideas, please help. This is extremely frustrating.

Hi Jim,

Do you see any event Ids in event logs?

Is Removable Storage Manager service running? If yes, please stop it.

Are there any alerts in alerts tab?

Have you updated the firmware of SCSI?

The only errors that show up in the event log or in Veritas is the "generic" one that I posted originally. The removable storage service is disabled andd has been since this error started occuring. I have the latest firmware installed for my SCSI devices.

Guess you'll have to wait for someone else to jump in.

Perhaps you could try to backup just certain components one at a time. Meaning, create a new job and just do the system state. See if that finishes. Then, do another job and just do the Exchange information store. See if that completes.

Try to get through all the components individually in seperate jobs and see if it is barfing on one section\component.
