Backup job hangs every 2-3 weeks, file/disk issue: Backup Exec version 12, rev. 1364:
Every 2-3 week our Backup job will queue, and eventually get cancelled because the maximum runtime. It is a B2D job.
We will find hundred of these errors in the Application Event Log:
- An error occurred while processing a B2D command. Changer: Couldn't ReadFMTables/RecoverBKF (E:\FULL\B2D001057.bkf). Error=32
- An error occurred while processing a B2D command. Drive: ReadFMTable() CreateFile failed (E:\FULL\B2D001057.bkf). Error=32
The disk is FC attached to a SAN, with SATA disks in Raid 5.
The B2D folder settings:
- 8 GB maximum size (also tried with 4 GB, same result)
- 3 Concurrent operations (also tried with 1, same result)
- Deselected Auto Detect Settings (also tried this checked, same result)
- Deselected Buffered reads (also tried this checked, same result)
- Deselected Buffered writes (also tried this checked, same result)
To clear this error, we stop Backup Exec, delete the contents of the B2D folder, start Backup Exec and the backup job will run fine.
The Job runs once every week, but will hang only after 2-3 weeks.
