Job length mystery

We backup up a server through a remote agent. We are notified via email that the job has completed successfully. The issue is that going through the detail logs, the job indicates that it took only less than an hour to complete (including verification), however, the total job time, according to the log summary (start to finish) took about 4 hours. I want to find out what our backup is doing for 3 hours if it's not backing up or verifying.

It is quite possible that some alert was present during the backup which needs to be responded.

Check for any media alerts generated in Backup Exec.
