Job will not cancel 80 hours and running, please help

For some reason my backup job for the mailserver will not stop. I cant edit the job due to it still running. I need to trouble shoot it but all i get under the status column is "Cancel Pending" I tried to stop the service on the mailserver yet it still runs. what do I do?

how about ejecting the tape manually?

i was just going to edit my post, sorry :p

Im not using tape, im using a HDD on another machine (not the machine veritas is installed on initially)

this is for others who find an issue like mine, I found this searching other areas because i needed an answer right away. I downloaded "Process Explorer" (free) and killed all the backup Exec processes, then restarted them. It appears that Backup Exec falls into a "limbo like" state and needs a little push. why this happends is beyond me.


Download that utility and runit. You will notice 'Veritas Software Corporation' made processes (under 'Company Name' column). just 'Kill' them and restart the services via service manager...Message was edited by:
