Licence for Media server

We have symantec backup exce 2010. I want to backup the some old backup images to the tape and want to utilize backup exec. 

Backup data: Windows 2012 Server 

Tape Library: Windws 2008 

I have only one licence to install, so in this scnaria do I need seperate licence for server 2008 where tape library is connected??

Yes.  If you want to install BE on a new server, you would need a new licence.  Alternatively, you can uninstall BE on your old server and then re-use the licence for the new server.

I am not using BE at the moment on any server and I only have 1 windows licence. So do I need licence for media server which is connected to tape library?

You would just the core license, i.e. the Backup Exec Server license.

Yes. You need at least a licence for the media server. If you are backing up data from another machine then you need to have a remote agent licence in addition to the media server licence
