Lotus Domino 8.5.2 Mail File Restore | Transaction Log

Dear All,

We have following setup :

Backup Exec 2010 64 Bit

Lotus Domino 8.5.2 64 Bit (with Transaction Logging in Archive Mode)

We are testing the restore of Mail file with the help of Transaction Logging.

1) We tried Point in Time Restore... it is not overwriting the Old File.

Error : V-79-57344-37897 - Access denied - unable to restore file ak.nsf.

Final error: 0xe0009409 - Lotus Notes was unable to open a database because the database is in use. Final error category: System Errors

2) We tried redirected restore.

It worked fine.

But it does not restored the Point In Time Copy.

3) How can we extract/restore missing Mails from the Transaction Logging?

We are trying for Option 2, as it is the safest one to restore the mail file.

Where we are doing wrong.

Make sure the following conditions are met :-

1)If you are restoring to the same place then make sure that nsf files is not being used by any application like notes client etc.

2)Redirection is fine but it will not do point in time

3)If the transaction files are present and you are trying point in time it will roll forward due to the presence of all transaction files after that.

It will work if the transaction files are not present in the harddisk and then when you are restoring will it restore full nsf and then restore all transaction till date and time specified.
