Hello,

It seems the installation is failing on MSDE. Refer to the following technotes which will help you in order to resolve the issue and have sucessful installation:

Title: Backup Exec installation fails with the error: "Failed to install MSDE 2000 BKUPEXEC instance. Please review C:\WINDOWS\MSDE_BKUPEXEC.log for more details. Failed to install third party products."
http://support.veritas.com/docs/272371

If the above does not help, follow the technote given below:

Title: Backup Exec 9.x or 10.0 fails to install, and the error message "Failed to install third party products" or "Error 1603 installing VERITAS Update using cmdline" is reported in the Backup Exec installation log file (bkupinst.log).
http://support.veritas.com/docs/255029

Hope the above helps. In case the problem persists, do write back to the forum with details. Howeve rif we do not receive your update within two business days, this post would be marked ‘assumed answered’ and would be moved to ‘answered questions’ pool.

Regards.
