Hi,
I am new to Veritas. I have the following backup job that appended to the same media. The media will be recycle again after 2 weeks.
1. Job A
2. Job B
3. Job C
4. Job D
I have done the following settings.
1. Under the target media sets, I have set the overwrite protection period to 12 days and append period to 2 days.
2. Under the media management setting, I set the media overwrite protection level to partial.
3. The backup will runfrom Job A first follow by B, C and D. For Job A, I have set the job to overwrite media. For Job B, C and D, I have set the job to append to media, overwrite if no appendable media is available.
My question is:
1. Are my settings correct in term of media management terminology for veritas?
2. How would I know that Job B, C and D all append to the same media but not overwrite the data done by Job A? Is there any way I can see the list of backup items in the media without perform a restoration.
3. The reason I setup the protection is because my operator keep mounting the wrong media. Is there anyway I can schedule a job to inventory the media and send me a notification which media is in the drive today?
