Move from BE 2012 on 32-bit HW to BE 2014 on 64-bit HW

Hi,

We plan to move our Backup Exec software and hardware infrastructure from a Windows 2003 Server Enterprise Edition (not R2) with Service Pack 2 32 bit server to a Windows Server 2012 R2 Server with Backup Exec 2014 (to support Exchange 2013 SP1).

What are the high level steps to complete this migration? Any Symantec documentation you could point me towards for this particular scenario would be greatly apreciated.

Thanks ...

You need to upgrade your media server to Server 2003 R2, upgrade BE to BE 2014 and then move your media server to Server 2012 R2. The first step is needed because Server 2003 R2 of the minimum required by BE 2014

Once the OS has been upgraded to R2 and the direct upgrade from BE 2012 to BE 2014 is done, then you can use this KB to move the BE 2014 install to the new server - http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH129826

Does the Server 2003 R2 version need to be 64-bit to allow installation of BE 2014 ? The OS is currently Server 2003 32-bit ...

Thanks
