Need remote agent for new Window 2003 server

I have a Backup Exec 8.6 on a Windows 2000 server and would like to install a remote agent on a new Windows 2003 server. Will 8.6 work with newer remote agents? version 9 and 10. Can I try to find and install remote agent 8.6 on the Windows 2003 server? Or am I forced to upgrade up to 9 or 10 to backup a Window 2003 server. The server is only for File/Print services. No other application will be installed.

Any assistance will be appreciated

W2K3 requires v9.0.4454 or newer

Some have reported that they have gotten a v8.6 agent to work, but the configuration is totally unsupported.

If I get a 9.0.4454 or higher agent then do I have to get 9.0 tape backup software?

Also then I have to upgrade all other agents to 9.0?

Is there any mixing of version?

You would have to upgrade everything you have.

And 9.x is no longer sold by Veritas AFAIK, just v10.

You might find a few copies of v9.1 or v9.0 (which can be upgraded to v9.1 for free) on EBay or the other Auction sites.
