No Compression

Hi, I can no longer get symantec to compress data since my tape drive was repaired and I had to reinstall it. I have tested the tape drive with HP test software and it succeeds up to 3:1 however no matter what type of back up job i try I cannot get any  compression. It is not the type of data as I am backing up the whole network there is deffinately data that can be compressed on there and it used to work. I have hardware and software compression turned on on the job.
We are running ver 7170. Please help.

Hello Kevin,

Thank you for using Symantec's Online Support Forums.

Here are some items to look at that should fix this for you:

1. Under Devices, right-click on the drive, and select properites.
2. Verify that "Enable Compression" is checked on the Configuration tab.
3. In your Backup Job Properties under "General" settings, that "Compression type" is set to "Hardware [if available, otherwise none]" or "Hardware [if available, otherwise software]"
4. Install the latest Hotifxes through LiveUpdate.
5. Install the latest 11.0.7170 device drivers.
