No XML report and unfindable mbx in exchange backup

Dirk_De_Busser

The backup of the exchange mbx's fails with following error:

WARNING: "\\SBS2003\Microsoft Exchange Mailboxes\䅁8B212E3E44315C1079C41FE32DB0A6A4083FF4BAFC1FBC51" is a corrupt file.
This file cannot verify.
Database or database element is corrupt

The InformationStore backup works fine as well as the public folder backup.
Strange is the following:

We cannot find the mbx (in the selection list of the backup job) that is mentioned in the error repport !?

An other weird thing is that we cannot view the xml job repport. we get always the same error:

Load XML failed. Reason: A. Error on line 32, position 95 in "f".
c:\Program files\Veritas\Backup Exec\NT\Data\BEX02334.xml

apparently this line is the error mentioning the mailbox and position 95 is the unknown character in the front.

Does anybody knows how to fix this problem?
Where can we find the mailbox that does not appear in the selection list, or where can we deselect it?
How can we get back the xml view (think this is related, since we can view other job logs in xml)

Thx

Hello,

Sorry for the late reply.

Could you please update us on the issue?

Could you let us know if the items that cannot be backed up are corrupt? Is an antivirus scanner running during the backups?

http://support.veritas.com/docs/255047

* Are the mails that are marked as corrupt quarantined by a virus scanner?

* Please ensure that the Mails or the mail attachments are not corrupt

* Do these Corrupt items have very long subject lines?

* Very long attachments or attachment names?

* Could you try running a backup of mailboxeswith the anti-virus software services stopped?
