Non-existing backup files still showing in the backup sets

Recently migrated to Backup Exec 16. Some expired backup sets still show in the storage listing. This was already true to the old system with Backup Exec 2014, but I hoped the newer system would solve this. It didn't. Infact there are now a lot moer of those.
I have done some researching and I noticed that those backup sets, or their catalog files, don't even exist on the NAS anymore.
How do I cleanup those non-existing expired sets away from the Backup Exec?

I would suggest to open a support case for this. It sounds like this is something in the database. If you migrated from one server to another or renamed the server make sure the technician is aware of that.

Have you run a repair of the BEDB using BEutility.exe?

Yes, I have run a repair using BEutility. It did not remove the sets.
Running the catalog job returns an error "0xe00084ca - The data being read from the media is inconsistent."
