Not seeing Drive

Hello,

He is our current Situation.  For about 3 months our backup was running fine with no errors what so ever.  After installing an addition 2gb of ram in the server, our backup failed daily.

Uninstalled Backupexec, chaecked all cabling, tested ram, everything checked out.  After going into the CMOS, made sure the SATA controller was not configured to be Raid.

Reinstalled backupexec after making sure the old copy was removed completely, and made sure that the server is using symantecs driver for the tape backup unit.  Backupexec passed the enviromental check, but not see the drive when attempting to do backups.  We are however able to backup with widows backup, acronnis, but no matter what we do we can not connect to the drive with symantec, please help.

Hi,

Have you try downloading and installing the latest Device Driver update for the Revision of Backup Exec that you are running?

The tape device is on its own Sata Contoller on the Motherboard and it is NOT setup as Raid. The Hard drives are on a PCIx Raid Contoller.

It sounds like the driver can not load.

run msinfo32

Check the status and if it is started.

Still dealing with errors, downloaded drivers, have read numerous posts and so far I have yet to find any solution to our problem.  Sony diagnostics come back good, its not a hardware problem, other backup programs are working, but we prefer not to use them.  Any help from Symantec would be great
