Hi Guys

Probably more than one question here but here it comes anyway.

I have a server running Windows SBS 2003 and Veritas Backup Exec 9.1, the server also has a Seagate Dat72 Drive, with 20/40GB Tapes.

Now for the life of me I cannot get the Server to backup more than 20GB per tape, I have enabled Hardware Compression and Software Compression, but once it goes just over 20GB it asks for a new tape.

I understand that compression isn't 2:1 on all files but would you expect to see more then 20GB backing up per tape.

The main problem I have now is I don't wish to upgrade the tape drive at this moment, but I can no longer do a full backup of the server, so were just backing up data.

Does anybody have some troubleshooting options I could try?

thanks

Carl

If you shut down all BackupExec services, does NTBackup get more than 20 GB?

Are you using manufacturer drivers, or Symantec drivers

Have you tried switching?

Have you tried the latest driver pack?
