Hi,
I've the "same" problem..
Same autoloader (IBM TS2900) after a cleaning warning, speed decrease from 3000 MB/min to 500 MB/min. I think is an HW problem....
Usage statistics:
bytes written 205TB
hours in use 1871
soft read error 100
hard read error 2
soft write error 44
hard write error 0
What do you think?
Thanks,
Gianni.

Hello Gianni,
With the Hard and Soft Write errors even I think its Hardware error. Have you checked with your hardware vendor?
soft read error 100
hard read error 2
soft write error 44
hard write error 0
Thanks,

I have branched this off as another discussion.
What is the statistics that you are quoting related to? The tape or the tape drive? If they are related to a tape, then try it out with another tape. If all your tapes have a lot of errors, then it would indicate that the tape drive is potentially faulty. If it is only one tape, then the tape is probably faulty.
Run the IBM diagnostic utitlity against the tape drive. Make sure you select the write test and that you have stopped all the BE services beforehand.
