Problem with Remote Selection

ALTeck
Not applicable

We have recently installed a new server to replace an old W2K server. We have already decommisioned the W2K server and it is off the network. Currently our network has 2 servers, we have installed Veritas Backup Exec on the new server and want to backup the other server via network using the Remote Agent.

Server 1 (The New Server):

OS: Windows 2003 Standard R2 64bit

Veritas 9.1 with the latest Service Pack

SQL & File Server (400+ gb of info)

Server 2 :

OS: Windows 2003 Small Business Server 32bit

Veritas Remote Agent

Exchange & IIS Server (~40gb info)

Server 1 is running the 64bit OS due to large ram requirements of the server (8gb). We have successfully installed Veritas 9.1 on the server and have successful backups of the SQL and local files. We are now needing Server 2 Backed up mainly for the IIS and Exchange store. We installed the Remote Agent through Tools->Serial Number and Installation. Now when we modify our backup schedule and choose selections, we browse to Server 2 and we can select defined shares but we are unable to select default shares such as C$, D$, E$, etc. These are greyed out. When clicking on them, we get the following error:

"Selection of this item is disabled. You are not authorized to access this item, a license key for Backup Exec Remote Agent for Windows Servers is not installed on the machine, or the Remote Agent is old or incompatible."

For access, we are using the domain Administrator account, and the Remote Agent was installed from the new server's Veritas installation. If we right-click on the server in the selections screen and select properties, in the remote agent section it states:

Remote Agent

Installed: YES

Status: RUNNING

Version: 9.1.4691.49

We have also noticed that the Remote Agent is not displaying the Exchange store in the Selection screen. Any help would be appreciated. We installed Veritas on the new server due to the amount of information on the new server compared to the Exchange/IIS server, so if possible we would like the tape drive to remain on the new server.
