Quatum Scaler i40 backupexec 2010

Getting an issue with Backupexec 2010 where it backsup fine but when i run a inventory job it sticks on queued. when i cancel the job it says cancel pending and hangs there till i restart the service. Any ideas ? I am sure someone has come across this in the past ?

Have you confirmed from the HCL that the Tape Drive / Robotic Library is supported. Confirm that the tape drive is using Symantec tape drivers and Medium changer is using Microsoft drivers and shows a unknown medium changer.

Was the drive or any hardware replaced. If so, try to disable/delet the tape drives and medium changer from BE and restart the services to allow autodetection.

Try pausing & unpausing the server on the Devices tab.

I suspect that you are not running BE 2010 R3, so I would suggest upgrading.
