Question about Backup for Linux

PittBW

Good morning,

My quesiton is this: Currently I am running BackupExec 11d on a Windows 2003 Standard R2 media server, which handles all my backup needs. Until now, all the clients have been running the Remote Agent for Windows.

I now have a request coming in, as to the feasibility of backing up a Linux box (the exact distribution is unclear yet, but will likely be either CentOS or Red Hat Enterprise). Will I be able to simply install a remote agent for Linux on that machine and integrate it into my backups, or is it going to require a separate backup server, running Linux ,with a separate installation of Backup Exec ?

You can backup linux server using existing media server however need to check

Software compatibility list first. (not all distributions are supported)

Backup Exec for Windows Servers (tm) 11d (11.0.6235 and 11.0.7170) Software Compatibility List (SCL)
