RALUS on Linux OpenSUSE 10.2 64-bit

I'm having some trouble here. Agent installs and runs fine until I attempt to back it up..

beremote[20812]: segfault at 00002ba600000000 rip 00002ba6f066c520 rsp 00000000427f0f88 error 4

Nasty isn't it?

I got the latest and greatest of 11d and the RALUS 7170 on the Linux machine. Any ideas?

Hi,
Are you backing up any mount points?
If so what are the files systems on them?
Patty

ErrolDC

Thanks for the quick reply. Im afraid however of where you may be going Smiley Wink

It's a snapshot of a LVM volume. The filesystem type is XFS. Would that present an issue?

ErrolDC
Level 3
Hmm... seems like XFS is not in the list of supported file systems. I'll try another file system.

Patty_McGowan

Yes, that would probably resolve the issue.

Ummmm.. JFS according to the docs is supported. I took a snapshot of a JFS formated LVM volume and mounted the snapshot on /media/snapshots.
What am I missing here?

Latest and greatest of OpenSUSE 10.2
Latest and greatest RALUS.

ErrolDC
Level 3
So I've confirmed that this has nothing to do with filesystem because i tried JFS and ext3. I'm getting a segfault on two of my opensuse installations - they both are configured with software raid.

OpenSUSE and SLES are derived from the same codebase. It is not supported?

I would recommend opening a support case for this.

Support would need further logs from you.

ErroIDC,

I get exactly the same thing on Fedora Core 6 (SMP) with beremote v11.0.7170.

Segmentation fault as the backup job has finished.....

Got the same seg fault as the job is starting with:

CentOS5 (64bit) + RALUS 7170

Strange thing, it was working for a few weeks, and backups worked. Symantec tech support were unable to help. Only suggestion was to wait until RALUS supports RHEL5...

Same problem here on many CentOS 5 x86_64 (RHES5) systems:

Is there any fix available for this long term problem?
