Hello

I'm using Symantec Backup Exec 11d Rev. 7170 on Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4.
and I'm trying to backup my Redhat Enterprise Linux version 3 through version 5.

every once in a while my RALUS agent keeps either dying or failing in some other way and preventing me from taking backups
I even created debug logs and spoke with Symantec about it, doesn't seem to know they know where problem lays...

anyone had something like this to their environment?

This may sound like VooDoo Tech Support, but try removing, booting  and re-installing the Agent on that machine

It's likely the longterm Symantec RALUS bug with file path lengh > 255 chars.
http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/307910.htm

Try the following:
Check if you got deep directory files to be backed up where path+filename lenght > 255, e.g.:

find . | egrep ".{256}"

If you got such files, move them so the path+filename does not exceed 255 chars.
Then try again.

This bug is there since the first release of RALUS and Symantec didn't find a solution for this problem since years...
