RSM cannot manage library Changer0. The database is corrupt

Hi, I get this error message in the windows event log after I installed Veritas tape drivers for my Overland NEO2000 (2 drives) tape library.

RSM cannot manage library Changer0. The database is corrupt

When I disabled the Removable Storage Service I get the following error message:

DCOM got error "The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it." attempting to start the service ntmssvc with arguments "-Service" in order to run the server.

I am running windows 2003 and BE 10.

Any input or help would be greatly appreciated.

Daniel,

Please try this, and see if this resolves the issue and see if you are able to stop and disable removable storage.

Thank you,

Jason,

I am able to stop and disable the removable storage service. After I do this I don't get this error message any more: RSM cannot manage library Changer0. The database is corrupt

but I get the DCOM error message instead now.

Should the RSM service be disabled if I'm using BE 10?

Hi,

Try the following to get rid of the DCOM error:

>Disable DCOM for NtmsSvc on Windows 2000.

1. From the Start and run Menu, type "dcomcnfg" , without the quotes.
2. Go to the Applications tab and select NtmsSvc, click Properties.
3. Go to the Location tab.
4. Unselect the option, Run application on this computer.
5. Click OK twice to save the changes.
>You can reboot the services and check.
