Reading Tapes Used by version 8.5

I have not been able to get my server that has BackupExec version 10 to actually see the media that I erased and backed up data to from a server that was using version 8.5 of Veritas BackupExec. I keep getting errors "The Storage device reported a CRC error on a request to read/write data to/from media. This could be caused by either a dirty tape drive, bad media, or a SCSI problem." I don't have an issue with tapes that weren't ever used before.

Details:
Cartridges previously used in other DLT formatted drives
If a DLT type IV tape was previously written to by a DLT 4000, 7000, 8000, or SDLT tape drive the tape will have reduced compatibility in a VS80 drive as noted in the table below:

Note: A DLT type IV tape previously written to by a DLT 4000, 7000, 8000, or SDLT tape drive must be magnetically erased before data can be written to it by a DLT VS80 drive.

VS80 formatted DLT cartridge use in other DLT formatted drives
Once a DLT type IV tape has been written to by a VS80 tape drive it has full compatibility in a DLT1 or another VS80 drive. However, if a VS80 DLT type IV formatted tape is used in a DLT 4000, 7000, 8000, or SDLT it will have reduced compatibility as noted in the table below:

Note: A DLT type IV tape previously written to by a VS80 tape drive must be magnetically erased before data can be written to it by a DLT 4000, 7000, 8000, or SDLT drive.

Cleaning cartridges used in VS80 tape drives
A VS80 tape drive requires a DLT VS or DLT 1 cleaning cartridges which are light brown in color. Cream color DLT cleaning cartridges should not be used in a VS80 tape drive.
