Reconfiguration Help

Hi

I recently did a total uninstall/reinstall of Backup Exec because of a corrupt database.

I now need help reconfiguring my media. BUE is telling me my media is imported, I guess because I have not cataloged it?

I read how to catalog my media but it said it would wipe the tapes....Can I avoid this?

I read the below thread which sounded similar but the fix was to restore the database something I don't wish to do considering it was corrupt. http://forums.veritas.com/discussions/thread.jspa?threadID=53328&tstart=15

Also any thing else I should setup/reconfigure??

Thanks in Advance

The tapes are "Imported" because they were not created by this install of BackupExec

There is no way that an inventory, followed by a catalog will affect the data on the tape. What is the exact error/warning that you receive?

Rather than catalog every tape, you can inventory/catalog the latest tape that you have, then restore the U01 files in the ..\Veritas\BackupExec\Nt directory, and then see http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/272886.htm to force BackupExec to re-index and thus recognize all the "imported" catalogs

Thanks for the help everything seems to be A OK now

I was trying to catalog the taped before an inventory and that was when it was telling me it would wipe the data on the tapes.

Not all tapes are listed under my media set is this a concern or will this happen as I use all the tapes again??

Thanks
