Remote Agent on Exchange Crashes

Hutch
Level 3
I have been having a continuous issue with the BE Agent on Exchange.  We had thought it was server related (originally running Server 2003\Exchange 2003 on a single server), however we have moved to a new Exchange Cluster, and the same issue appears.

Exchange Information:

Windows 2003 Server R2 with SP2
Exchange 2003 with SP2
Active\Passive Cluster
4 Information Stores

Backup Exec: 11D Rev 6235

Remote Agent will crash on average once or twice a week, with the following error in Event Viewer.

Remote Agent only crashes on Exchange.  All other servers are functional.

My first suggestion would be to get on the latest revision of BE11d.  The current revision is 7170.  It is a free upgrade for you.  You can download it from either fileconnect.symantec.com or backupexec.com  You will also need to upgrade CPS to the latest revision, which you can download from the same sites.

Ok...I will give that a try.  Anything I should be aware of, RE: upgrade path??

I would assume that I just run the program on the existing server, and it should upgrade the software automatically.  I would then assume I run the CPS upgrade next??  Then push out the Remote agents...

I have run across a very few instances where CPS does not upgrade properly.  So you may want to consider uninstalling CPS and doing a clean install of the new version.  But other then that, the upgrade should be pretty straight forward.
