Remote Computer Missing From Selections List

Paulo_Jeronimo
Not applicable
We are unable to view one of our servers in the remote selections list. We can successfully install manually the Remote Agent on this computer, however we cannot see the server in the computers list.

Both servers run Windows Server 2003 SP1 (no firewall). The remote server missing from the list also has the Exchange Agent installed. Our media server has BackupExec 10.0 build 5484 with SP1 and Hot Fix 24 and 30 installed. We can successfully telnet to port 10000 on the remote (missing from list) computer.

What should we do to fix the problem?

1. Make sure you can see the server from MS windows Network(if not then its networking issue)

2.Make sure can ping the server with the servernames bothways.(verfiy the IP address returned).

If the above steps are verfied , then add the name and IP addess of the remote server in the hosts file of the media server

If you can telnet to port 10000, the network should be in good shape. The selection list just uses Netbios broadasts, so perhaps this remote computer is not a domain member?
No worries. Add the computer manually in the User defined selection:
Right mouse click User defined Selections -> User defined Selections... and add the UNC name of the remote host.
