We have spoken to our wholesaler who have advised us that you can download and install the latest version of backup exec up to a year after purchase. We recently purchased a remote agent for our clients who are on 9.1 but we were told that they cant get them anymore. Can someone from veritas advise me on what happens here.

Upgrade from 9.X to 10.0 is a paid upgrade.

Refer to the following technote for further information on the latest version:

How about if you have upgrade protection? Wouldn't that cover your agents from 9.1 upgrading to 10?

Also it isn't clear what in this article what to look at - I didn't see anything related to upgrading from 9.1 to 10.

thanks!

Upgrade protection / Technical services support certificate will ocvewr this. Veritas is in the process of emailing out the new Keys and download links to all valid certificate holders.

You can download the Eval version of 10.0 and just install your keys when they arrive in the next couple of weeks.

Hello Aaron,

We suggest you to download the latest version 10.0 from the following link:
http://www.veritas.com/softwaredownload/;vrtsid=SNQZDBSFGLZL1QFIYCLCFEQ?_requestid=52275

You can evaluate the product for 60 days, while contact our Sales team or your reseller for the upgrade license keys.

Well you will have to upgrade the remote agent for 9.1 licenses to the current build.
