Restore 9.0 with 8.6?

Hi,

We have several Veritas servers, a mixture of v9 and v8.6. We're consolidating our backups onto one of the 8.6 servers (we have more 8.6 remote agents, and there's a better tape drive on that box). Does anyone know if there are any problems restoring a backup made on v9 using 8.6?

They both use MTF (Microsoft Tape Format) to write to tape

Best thing to do would be do a test backup on v9, then inventory and catalog on v8.6 and see if the catalog is read. If so, the restore should be no problem.

Backup Exec 8.6 does support restore of Backup Exec 9.0 backup sets as both are in MTF format. Kindly update us on the query.
