Restore on BUexec 8.5

Hi, I am having trouble restoring any data from 2different servers both running BUexec8.5. The first will not display ANYTHING in the restore Selections tab no matter how many Inventories and catalogues I run? the second has everything in the restore selections tab but when I schedule or try to run a restore NOTHING happens ?

its running on Win2K Server - Fully up to date, the first is a Sony AIT sdx-700c tape drive, the second is a SDLT drive.

I hope someone can help PLEASE

Thanks Ken,
I have now sorted the 1st issue by stopping all BackupExec services and deleting the BeTopCat.idx file and all *.TMP, *.SM, *.FDD and *.QTC files in the BacupExec\NT\CATALOGS folder.
(I'm afraid the links you posted did not work for me - they come up as old links?)

Regarding the 2nd issue, the only recognition that I have made a restore request is an entry in the Job Definitions Tab.
And the sending request box appears and then disappears straight away after I've clicked 'run now'.

No Alerts, reports or even a request for the correct tape ?
