Restore previous database encryption key

Hello,

I'm trying to test using simplified recovery disk for Backup exec server it self, I did boot using the disk and select latest full backup from storage and it open windows normally but I found that the new veritas software created new *.bek file (database encryption key) I did copy the previously exported *.bek file and put it in data folder and tried to create new backup to the server it show error that the database encryption key is missing, i removed the new *.bek file after that I can't event login to veritas backup exec.

Any suggestions please to restore database encrypting key.

Regards,

Saif

Check if you have the file extensions in the DATA folder visible, not that the extension is wrong.
Sometimes you could have multiple .dek keys, so ensure you have the latest .dek key copied into the Data folder.
Lastly, in case this is not a spelling mistake, the extension is .dek and not .bek
