Backup Exec 2010 R3 with all latest updates except the last one. Backup of distributed file system using true image option with deduplication storage.
Attempt to restore a full backup of one folder to the local F:\Restore folder works fine with default security options.
Change the security options to check "Restore all the information except security information for files and options", delete the contents of the restored folder and run the job - crashes out with following error:
Restore- \\SERVER015\Shadow?Copy?Components - VSS Writer File System
V-79-57344-65072 - Connection to the restore target has been lost. Operation canceled.
At this point, the Backup Exec Remote Agent has crashed on the media server and has to be manually restarted.
Completely repeatable. Put security options back to default (so security is restored) and works fine. Change so no security is restored and it crashes.
Mainly a "for your information" as not sure how to raise bug reports with Symantec.

If you have a support agreeement in place, you can simply call them and a call will be opened.
I have also hit the support flag on this for you.
Thanks!

Hi Craig - yes, I think we have a support option. We pay Symantec some money every year for something but never 100% sure what we get overall. It's mainly so we continue to get the updates.
Cheers, Rob.
