I'm having a little bit of difficulty understanding the difference with the Junction Point selection of a Restore job. Our backup jobs are currently configured to back up files and directories by following junction points and our default restore selection is set to "restore junction points, files, and directories from backup media". What I've noticed is that if I leave these settings and run a restore a folder is created in the root of the drive instead of a single file or directory being restored to the path it was originally located. As a result I have to use file redirection to restore the file to its correct location.
Would changing the default restore setting to "preserve existing junction..." result in eliminating the need to redirect the files?
And should the preserve tree option be used if I'm only restoring a single file?
