Restoring backup files

This is a pretty basic question and it probably has a really easy answer. So here goes.

So part of my backup solution is to copy the Backup Exec backups to an external drive and take them offsite. Right now I'm using MS SyncToy to copy the backup directory to an external hard dive.

I'm wanting to test these backup files and I can't seem to find a way to get Backup Exec to read the files that I've copied to the external drive.

What am I missing?

You have to copy the BKF files back to a B2D folder, then inventory and catalog, then you can restore

Or you could define a Removable B2D folder on the external drive and "Duplicate" the data to in.  Then when you reconnect the external drive, you should be able to restore directly from there
