Rewind cartridge after a Full Backup

Is it possible to rewind a cartridge after a Full Backup without the cartridge being completely eject? We need to do that because we cannot always change the cartridge for the next backup and we prefer to overwrite the last Full Backup.

Thanks!

If the tape volume is overwritable, and if the new job is an Overwrite job, BackupExec should rewind the tape when the new job starts.

OK but it's always the same job wich is scheduled every night. The tapes are in the Scratch Media. Can I use a Post-Command to rewind the tape?

Thanks for your answer!

As I said, you should not have to rewind, BackupExec should rewind automatically if the job is an overwrite job

Is it not doing this? What specific problems are you having

Hm,

i like to know such a post function, too.
It would short the time of get the tape out of the drive.

AFAIK, BEMCMD dos NOT support rewind or verify jobs.

You can check by doing a CD into the ddirectory where BEMCMD lives (ususally ..\BackupExec\NT ) and issuing
"BEMCMD /? > BEMCMD.TXT" (without the quotes"

This will give you a listing of all the supported switches and what they do.
