SQL Server backups. BACKUP DATABASE is terminating abnormally.

We recently modifed the account that the Backup Exec services run under. We also changed the logon account that Veritas uses. Now our backups keep failing with the following error.

An error occurred on a query to database Import.
V-79-57344-33938 - BACKUP DATABASE is terminating abnormally.

The new user account has domain admin rights and I also gave the individual account System_Administrator permissions on the SQL server.

Please help. It has been a couple of days now since we have had a successfull backup to tape.

Hi Derek,

Try running a repair installation of Backup Exec from Add/Remove Programs and then reboot the server.

Is the new account that you created a member of Domain Admins as well as Local Admin group?
