SSO Option in Backup Exec 2010 R3

Hi,

 

Am just looking for some clarification with regards to the SSO option for BE 2010R3, is it a case that this will allow us to utilise the fibre backbone between SAN/Server and BE Server to allow for faster throughput with the backups?

My situation is this, we have a Virtual environment that houses our data servers, the backup exec server/tape library is attached to the fibre switches that the Virtual Hosts are connected to, if we do a normal backup whether it be D2D or D2T it will still go across the ethernet and therefore we are limited by speed of switches, just curious if we can use the fibre?

Hi,

 

SAN SSO will allow you to share a fibre channel tape library with other servers connected to the SAN and running full backups of Backup Exec.

I suspect in your case you should be considering SAN Transport Mode for your VMware backups...check below for more information:
