Shared Storage

Hello,

I have a HP MSA1000 SAN. An array is created and presented to a file server. I would like to be able to present the same array to my Veritas Backup Exec server and perform backups over the fibre channel network rather than the LAN.

Is it possible to present an array to two Windows servers at the same time? Would Backup Exec 10 with the SAN Shared Storage option be able to backup the array?

My backup server has a locally attached LTO3 tape unit.

Thaks for you help with this.

You have to setup the SAN and make sure the Veritas Server is zoned to see the VOLUME your talking about. This would be outiside backup exec.So as long as you can get the array to show as as a local drive letter to the OS on the Veritas Server then you can back it up over fiber. If the Tape device is on the SAN then you would need the SAN/SSO option.
